A man came to visit me

I had a visitor today. He didn’t speak to me. He just stood there in his black suit, staring at me. How can you come to someone’s door and just stand there, waiting for the door to open. No knock, no doorbell, nothing but him, standing on the other side of the front door waiting for someone inside to walk by and see him. Which is what by accidental luck happened. I was trying to find the cats and went looking in the bedroom, when I came back I saw his silouette through the glass in the door. Freaky.

I keep my wedding sword sticking out of the sofa because I had a gut feeling some weirdo was going to come around sometime and I’d need to scare them off. Plus, I day dream about epic battles I have with robbers, where at the end of it they are all beat up and I say something witty before tying them up and calling the police. But this guy just stood there. Even when I opened the door he just stood there.

Neither of us said anything at all, me with my sword, and him with his black suit, just standing there, wordless. Then I shut the door, locked it, turned on the alarm and went back to my office and tried not to be obvious as I looked through the blinds to see him slowly walk down the driveway and around the corner and out of sight.

Almost grill time

Yesterday my parents brought over a present, a new grill. It’s half gas half charcoal, so whatever we feel like that day we’ve got.

But it came in a box, kinda big but still not big enough to be the grill. That’s because it was in about 150 pieces that Adam, PawPaw, and me had to put together. We spent about two hours on the back deck and we have about half of it put together before I gave up (I was hungry). Tonight we said we’d finish it, but I just realized we’re going to a meeting, so it’ll have be tomorrow night. Hopefully there will be a whole grill on our back deck before the end of the week!

Yesterday we were invited on a double date with out friends Mike and Jenny, dinner and a movie. Awesome! We haven’t been to the movie theater since Shutter Island in January (great movie). This time we saw How to Train Your Dinosaur, in RealD3D. I wasn’t expecting to like the movie or the 3D but it was pretty amazing. The movie was fun and the 3D (didn’t exactly pop out at me) made the picture look good. It was pretty groovy, he wouldn’t kill the dragon, neither would I.

Lori stole my lawn mower

Yesterday, on the way home from work, I picked up a lawnmower. We have company coming over on Friday and the yard needs some work (beautification if you will).

There is a little ditch (well there was) running through our yard from when they replaced the water line during renovation. When they planted grass I guess it didn’t cross their minds to make that even with the rest of the yard, so now we have to fix it. The night before last I was out there with a shovel digging away trying to make everything even, and then last night we put fresh dirt on top of that and made it even more even. All this so we could put grass seed out there.

Lori was ready to get out of the house when I got home so she helped me put the lawn mower together, and feeling accomplished she thought she’d take it out for a spin. It turned into her cutting the whole yard. She wouldn’t stop and let me do any. Ok, that’s fine.

Hopefully in a few weeks grass will start to spring up and the yard will look a bit more even.
